Civil War Artillery Enlisted Man’s Shell Jacket
Civil War Artillery Enlisted Man’s Shell Jacket: This original Civil War artillery shell jacket is in overall fine condition – no mothing, excellent color to the body and piping of the coat, fine osnaburg interior lining, all original buttons in place and excellent, cotton sleeve linings. The coat retains its original, government inspector’s marking; what might be a costume company’s marks have been inked out in each sleeve. There appears to be an external seam repair to a small area of the right shoulder area, but it is only slightly noticeable. Both original bolsters are in place on the rear of the jacket, as well. This is an excellent example of the mainstay uniform jacket for Civil War mounted, light artillery enlisted soldiers, in excellent condition.
