Confederate “Richmond Style” Tin Drum Canteen with Original Sling
Confederate “Richmond Style” Tin Drum Canteen with Original Sling – This style of Confederate tin drum canteen, thought to have been issued, primarily, to Army of Northern Virginia troops, has a unique profile: convex on one side and flat on the opposite side. All of the classic, Confederate tin drum canteen elements are present – soldered tin spout and three sling guides. The convex side has somewhat of a push or dent; the flat side has no dents. The spout and sling guides are in fine condition. The canteen retains its original sling, which is in fair to somewhat tenuous condition; the sling is constructed of a striped, homespun wool. Overall, this strong example of the Richmond style, CS tin drum canteen is in good condition, evidencing some small areas of surface rust, but structurally very sound.
