Dug Early Militia Plate

Excavated Militia Plate - This plate, excavated in the Fredericksburg area in the 1980s, is a good example of a pre-war militia plate used by both northern and southern militia units in the antebellum era. The plate retains a solid, dug patina on its face, and it exhibits the solder, on the back of the plate, where the iron attachment hooks once were.
