The books contain many great pictures of the New York monuments, as well as numerous color maps of the battlefield.
The books were the property of Willard L. Devendorf, who enlisted on 8/23/62, in Watertown, NY, as a private. Devendorf mustered into Battery C of the 1rst NY Light Artillery; he remained in service throughout the entire war, mustering out in June of 1865. Devendorf’s name is clearly written on the flyleaf of the first volume. The books are in overall great condition; there is some wear on the spines of each volume.
