Fine Quality Civil War Period Civilian Frock Coat

Fine Quality Civil War Period Civilian Frock Coat  - This coat, composed of fine black, English broadcloth wool, is the best one we have had. It remains in pristine condition, with no moth nips or damage whatsoever. The coat appears to date from 1850 to 1860, exhibiting all of the characteristics that were stylishly popular in that era: un-hemmed bottoms of the coat; wide or ballooned elbows; brown, polished cotton lined tail and breast pockets; green, polished cotton or satinette interior lining; batted and quilted chest interior; hand-whipped button holes; wide, pointed lapels; cloth covered buttons. This is a wonderful example of men’s wear in the antebellum era.
