This scarce 2 gallon salt-glazed stoneware jar, which bears the impressed mark 2/ KEESEE & PARR,/ RICHMOND, VA., was potted c. 1860-1865 at the Rocketts, Richmond, VA pottery of David Parr Jr. (1819-1882) during the period of his retail partnership with Richmond auctioneer Thomas W. Keesee.  Four bright blue graduated cobalt swags encircle the piece below the collar; brown Albany slip covers the interior.   Other than typical, expected wear to the underside and several minor, in-the-making surface imperfections, this jar has survived in outstanding, untouched, as-made condition.  12 7/8” tall X 7 ¼” wide at the rim.
