Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber by Emerson & Silver Dated 1863
Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber by Emerson & Silver Dated 1863 – Fine example of the Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber; blade length is approximately 35”; ricasso is stamped: “EMERSON & SILVER / TRENTON / N.J.” On the obverse is stamped “N. J. / 1863”. The blade is in wonderful, clean, unblemished condition, with the original leather washer beneath the guard, still intact. The brass elements – the knuckle bow and branches remain in superior condition, as is the Phrygian style pommel – all exhibiting a near gilded look. The leather grip is in excellent condition, as well, with all of the original twisted brass wire tight and completely intact. The original polished steel scabbard is in superior condition, with no discernible dents; both mounting rings are in strong condition; the drag exhibits some minor wear. This is an excellent example of a mid-war M1860 Cavalry Saber.
