Nondug Original Confederate Rounded Corner Belt Plate
CS Rectangular Round Corner Cast Belt P- This plate, out of a very old Richmond collection, is noted for the CS on a cast rectangle with a wide border, and rounded corners; the background is coarse and evidences traces of the original black lacquering. This style of plate was apparently used predominantly in the western theater of the war. This particular example was apparently attached, at some time, to an old relic board, as the belt hooks have been cut off and two small holes, on either end of the plate, indicate points of board attachment. Overall, the plate is in fine, non-dug original condition.
