Original Civil War Field Glasses and Case – This pair of field glasses is a superior example of definitively Civil War period field glasses, still housed in their original case, retaining its original sling. Both the case and glasses are in excellent condition. The field glasses, most likely of French origin (as most Civil War era field glasses are), have a straight nose bridge, indicative of Civil War, pre-1865 manufacture. They have a period, thermoplastic focus adjuster, as well as japanned sunshades. The original case, a most difficult item to find, is complete with its original shoulder strap, case top and velvet lined interior and top; this case has always been with these glasses. This is a great pair of field glasses and case, with superior optics.
