Original Civil War Period Pocket Telescope in Original Leatherette Case
Original Civil War Period Pocket Telescope in Original Leatherette Case – Although this so-called pocket telescope is comparable in style and construction to other examples that we have had, this particular telescope is a bit larger than most pocket scopes, as it is a two-pull size. The body of the telescope is painted in a bright red; of course, the lens tubes are brass. The optics are good, the overall condition is great, and the telescope is accompanied by its original leather covered, paste board tubular case. These telescopes were often carried by Civil War officers, in their haversacks. The telescope, fully extended, measures as follows: Closed Length – 4.75”; Full Extended Length – 11”; Case Length – 51/8”.
