Original Civil War U.S. Belt Plate and Belt
Original Civil War U.S. Belt Plate and Belt – This strong example of a typical U.S. Infantryman’s belt and plate is in overall very good condition. The hide belt is supple, with some overall crackling, but no flaking to the finish. The belt is the early war issue with the remnants of the original standing loop keeper; this was superseded, shortly after the onset of the war, by a brass keeper that was affixed to the end of the belt. The US belt plate is in excellent condition, exhibiting a pleasing patina to the front of the plate, with nice arrow hooks and lead solder filling on the back.
