Original Civil War Worsted Wool NCO Sash


Original Civil War Worsted Wool NCO Sash - Unlike the officer’s sword belt sashes which were constructed of silk, NCO sashes worn by enlisted men of the rank of corporal or sergeant, were constructed of worsted, crimson wool. As with most Civil War period, NCO sashes, this sash has knots, formed at both ends, formed around a wooden shaped mold or “acorn”. There are some moth nips in the center of the body of the sash, although none too significant; there is a large nip at one end of the sash, near the knot. The tassels at the ends are in fine condition, and the color of the sash remains a vibrant, crimson red. The sash, in its original length, measures as follows: Length – 94”; Width – 3.5”.
