Original Confederate Percussion Cap Box
Original Confederate Percussion Cap Box – This cap box is an excellent example of a Confederate percussion cap box. The outer flap has a stitched latch tab, which is securely in place; the box has a brass finial. On the back of the box is a single belt loop, which is 1.75” wide. The inner flap has small, raw edge, thick ears, sewn in place. On the interior of the box, the leather attachment for the original lamb’s wool remains with much of the original wool still attached. The leather is supple with some light crazing in a few areas, as well as some small areas of finish loss; all stitching is tight. This is an excellent and completely original Confederate cap box.
