Pattern 1851 U.S. Cavalry Enlisted Man’s Sword Belt
Pattern 1851 U.S. Cavalry Enlisted Man’s Sword Belt – This is a fine example of the mounted Union enlisted man’s sword belt, complete with both sword drops, all brass hangers and studs, original shoulder strap and excellent M1851 Eagle belt plate, with a bench mark that matches the belt’s keeper. The belt remains strong and supple, with no flaking; the shorter sword drop has one broken, but reparable, area near the upper stud. This is the mid-war issue belt, as the keeper is riveted in place. The belt plate presents a nice aged patina, and the silver wreath is in excellent condition.
