Turned Iron Miniature Cannon Barrel – Discovered in an old house in Petersburg, this extremely well made, turned iron cannon barrel appears to be fashioned after a Revolutionary War period tube. It has a fuse hole and appears to have been loaded with a lead ball, which still is lodged in the breech of the barrel. Petersburg had a substantial English and Colonial Army presence and resultant combat in 1781, so perhaps this was made in remembrance or in honor of this historical event, some time in the 19th century.
