Circa 1825 Men’s Calf or Goat Skin Boots
$650
Circa 1825 Men’s Calf or Goat Skin Boots – These high-quality boots are in the style worn by upper class men in the first quarter of the 19th century. Constructed of a soft, pliable leather, either calf or goat skin, they are laced up from the back of each boot. The laces appear to be the original period laces. As observed in other examples of this period, men’s footwear, the toes are exceedingly square in configuration; the heels are low. Both the soles and the heels evidence very little wear. The interior of each boot is partially lined with a brown, high grade, thin, brown leather. We have had many boots, but this is the earliest pair we have had; they remain in superb condition; the right side of one of the heels appears to have been scorched during the period of use – it is conceivable that the wearer, in an attempt to warm his foot, placed his heel too close to the fire or stove – no damage to the leather was induced other than some discoloration. Each boot measures approximately 9” in length.
