Original Civil War Surgeon’s Insignia – Hat Badges and Pair of Epaulette Caducei – Civil War medical insignia has always been rare; this group of war period insignia includes the following: two bullion embroidered medical officer hat badges – one with silver “MS” inside the bullion wreath, the other with silver bullion “MS” in the center of the wreath; a stamped brass, officer’s hat wreath with silvered brass “US” hat insignia, indicative of a staff (medical) officer; two rare bullion and red velvet, surgeon’s dress epaulette pads. All of the insignia remain in very good condition.
