Original Civil War M1858 Union Enlisted Man’s Forage Cap

Original Civil War M1858 Union Enlisted Man’s Forage Cap – This cap is an excellent example of an early to mid-war, enlisted man’s forage cap; the cap retains a great, deep blue color and complete, brown, polished cotton interior lining and complete sweatband. The black lacquered brim is in fine condition, as is the original chinstrap, affixed by an eagle cuff button on either side of the cap’s front exterior. Attached to the exterior crown of the cap are the company letter and regimental number – “K” and “59”; both the letter and number are original and attached via loops through the exterior of the cap’s crown. There are a very few, minor insect nips, but the cap remains in overall excellent condition.
