Original Civil War Period Man’s Cotton Shirt

SOLD

Original Civil War Period Man’s Cotton Shirt – Original, period, Civil War shirts have become nearly impossible to find; this example is the first we have had in two years. Constructed of woven cotton, the shirt shows both treadle machine and hand work, as well as the typical characteristics of mid-19th century men’s shirts – gussets under the arms and tail vents; pleated, placket front with milk glass buttons; fine, linen sewn-on collar; drop-shoulders; gathered construction at the collar and wrist areas; hand-whipped buttonholes; functional cuffs. The shirt remains in overall very good condition, with some relatively minor, wear and pull areas. Period shirts like this are a great complement to any uniform.
