Pair of Original Civil War Period Gauntlets – This is the first pair of Civil War period gauntlets that we have had in a long time; these rare Civil War period personal accoutrements have become exceedingly difficult to find. This pair, which remain in excellent condition, are constructed of calf or goat skin. As with most war period gauntlets, the wide cuff area is scalloped; the size (81/2) is stamped on the interior of each cuff. There are some use stains on the exterior, but the leather remains in strong, pliable shape. Many officers and mounted enlisted men wore gauntlets, as depicted in war period images.
