Excavated Confederate Forked Tongue Buckle – This Confederate belt buckle was excavated in eastern Mississippi; it remains in excellent dug condition. These rather unusual belt plates were produced in various sizes with some variations. The tongue of this plate remains in place and retains both prongs. There are no repairs or breaks to the plate. There is an inked number 150 on one side of the plate indicative of a former collector’s cataloguing.
