River Recovered Complete Tower Rifled Musket and Sergeant’s Gun Tool

SOLD

River Recovered Complete Tower Rifled Musket and Sergeant’s Gun Tool – This water recovery Tower retains almost all of its original stock, as well as all of its mechanical and firing elements; in addition, the original nipple protector and chain, as well as the uncommon sergeant’s Tower, gun tool were also discovered with the musket. The gun and accompanying tool have been treated and are not in a deteriorated state; all elements have been conserved and are stabilized. The butt stock is broken at the wrist, but has been wired back in place. We have had several dug weapons, but we have not encountered a complete and nearly intact Tower before. The gun and tool were discovered beneath a heavy silt covering along the river bottom, thereby making the gun preserved under anaerobic conditions, impeding deterioration. The lock plate markings are actually still readable. This is indeed a rare artifact.
