Extremely Rare Original Civil War Navy Officer’s and Seaman’s Straw or Sennet Hat – This hat conforms to U.S.N. regulations of the Mid-Civil War; the hat remains in fine condition, with only a minor separation in the upper crown area. Surrounding the exterior of the crown is the original, black silk ribbon hatband, with its original large bow, attached to the hatband proper. The original, wide leather sweatband is in fine condition. These hats were easily damaged during the period of use or after the war, so obtaining one like this, in great condition, is a great rarity.
