M1858 Union Enlisted Man’s Type I Forage Cap – This cap is a superb example of an early war issue, enlisted man’s forage cap. The cap remains in superior condition, retaining excellent color; the original chin strap, with general service, eagle buttons on both sides of the cap and brass adjuster buckle, remains in place and in fine condition. The interior of the cap exhibits a complete sweatband and completely intact, brown polished cotton lining. The black enameled, leather brim is in equally excellent condition. This is one of the best examples of Union forage caps we have had.
