Pair of Original Civil War Period Gauntlets

Pair of Original Civil War Period Gauntlets – Original Civil War gauntlets have always been difficult to find; this pair, which remain in overall, very good condition, are constructed of calf or doe skin. As with most war period gauntlets, the wide cuff area is scalloped. There are some use stains on the exterior, but the leather remains soft and pliable. The right gauntlet sustained some period damage in the thumb area – this was somewhat crudely repaired, apparently in the period. Many officers and mounted enlisted men wore gauntlets, as depicted in war period images.
