Civil War Soldier Made Ditty Bag Constructed in the Field from Knapsack Material – We have had several Civil War“ ditty bags”, but this is the first that we have encountered that was definitely constructed, by a soldier, from knapsack material. The bag exhibits clever work by the war period owner. The original carrying strap, made of some kind of wound fabric, remains in place. There is a name lightly inked on the interior of the bag, but, as of this posting, we have not been able to discern what it is. The bag is supple, with no significant loss or flaking. The bag measures as follows:

Height – 11”; Width – 6.5”
