The two barrel bands have the “U” stampings, and the ramrod is the swelled end area, tulip tipped type. The Maynard primer door and interior are in excellent condition. The metal of this rifle is in superior condition, with a nice “in the bright” original finish. The stock is fine and crisp, as are the firing mechanics. The bore is clean and excellent. The overall length of the gun is: 49”; the barrel length is: 33”. These 1860 dated M1855s are rather scarce, with an occasional attribution alluding to Confederate assembling. The gun is accompanied by an original sling.
