18th to Early 19th Century American Powder Horn – This horn is in excellent condition and representative of a post-Revolutionary War to early Federal period construction. The horn retains its original, hand carved stopper, attached to the horn’s neck, via period hemp cord. In the wide end of the horn, is a walnut disk, fixed in place by period tacks; in the middle of the disk, is an iron ring, held in place by a u-shaped, forged staple; the ring was used to attach a hanging cord or strap to the horn. The horn measures as follows: Length – 13.5”.
