Original Civil War Period Boots

Original Civil War Period Boots – This pair of boots are high quality boots definitively dating from the prewar to Civil War period. The boots exhibit all of the essential characteristics that indicate they are mid-19^th century boots: tall “stovepipe” calf areas; fabric pulls that are affixed to the upper interiors of each boot; pronounced square toe boxes; high instep / arch areas; stacked, “Cuban” style heels; somewhat straight lasts with noticeable right and left boots; decorative, brownish red leather panels on the front of the knee area. These boots remain in overall fine condition, with some age and wear related minor seam and body splits; the soles are sewn to the boots’ vamps, indicative of earlier construction; the heels are nailed to the soles. There is some scuffing to the decorative knee panels of each boot. These boots were well constructed and would have been a higher quality boot in their period of use.
