Civil War Veteran Created Cane with Bullet Embedded
$295
Civil War Veteran Created Cane with Bullet Embedded – This cherry branch or limb has a cleverly inserted handle at the upper end for someone’s hand to hold when utilizing the limb as a cane. Embedded just below this handle is a fired, three-ring musket bullet; the bullet is about half visible, with the nose section embedded in the limb; a reinforcing, small nail has been driven through the bullet to ensure that it remains in place. Although we have seen several veteran carved canes from wood from battlefields on which a veteran was engaged, this cane is the first that we have had with a bullet embedded in it. We do not know when and where this cane was created, but it appears to be from just after the Civil War and prior to the 20th century, but from an unknown battlefield. The cane remains in excellent condition.
