Original Civil War Union Infantry Officer’s Slouch Hat

Original Civil War Union Infantry Officer’s Slouch Hat – This is an excellent example of a finely appointed, Union officer’s slouch hat; affixed to the front of the hat is its original, infantry, faux bullion hunting horn, which is attached to a somewhat faded, black velvet, oval badge. Additionally, the hat features its original, officer’s bullion hat cord with bullion acorns and black ostrich plume, attached to the hat via a black silk rosette. The hat has these usual, Civil War features – ribbed, grosgrain, black ribbon binding around the brim of the hat; the soft, “mellow” feel to the fine quality, rabbit or beaver felt comprising the body of the hat; a wide, polished, Moroccan leather sweatband. The overall condition of the hat is excellent, with no holes or damage to the body of the hat; the sweat band has some wear/ age damage but is primarily intact. These authentic, period slouch hats have become difficult to find now.
