Indian War Period Scarce Pattern of 1885 Mills Patent Web Belt and Belt Plate -The pattern 1885 Mills web belt holding 50 rounds of .45 caliber cartridges, is identified by the use of 3 eyelets on either end of the belt. The color is called stone or dark gray (medium tan). Used in conjunction with this belt is the 1881 two piece stamped brass U.S. “H” plate. The scarcity of the plate is due to its inability to hold up in field use, and was rapidly replaced with the new 1886 plates (stamped 2 piece “H” plate). The belt and plate remain in overall very good condition exhibiting one minor area of use fraying.
