Original Civil War Gauntlets
$575
Original Civil War Gauntlets – Finding a pair of original war period gauntlets has always been challenging; this pair remain in overall good condition, with some wear induced loss to the right index finger. The gauntlets are made of a high grade of extremely soft and supple deer, goat or calfskin. Most of the construction mode utilized was a treadle, chain-stitching machine combined with hand-sewing, finishing work. Stamped in the cuff of the left gauntlet is the size number – “91/2”. The cuffs are configured in the typical, Civil War period style in a long, sharply angular profile. These are not Masonic, postwar gauntlets; there is absolutely no “ghost” of some form of Masonic symbolism once sewn on the cuff exteriors; these are original, war period gauntlets.
