Ninth Plate Tintype of Union Soldier in a “Peek-Boo” Themoplastic Case – This image is housed in a rarely encountered, so-called “Peek a Boo”, thermoplastic case. The interior of the case is labeled with the maker’s names and copyright dates. The image depicts a Union, uniformed, enlisted infantryman wearing what appears to be a nine-button, Federal issue, enlisted frock coat and his forage cap; the buttons and chinstrap elements are gilded. The image remains in overall good condition; the case is in excellent condition with a minor chip at the closure clasp. This is the first of this type of case we have had.
