Extra Fine Civil War Federal Staff Officers Hat Badge – This is by far the best Civil War Federal officers’ hat insignia we have had; it approaches near mint condition. Constructed of a gold and silver bullion thread with decorative sequins, the decorative elements and “US” are woven into a black felt oval. The back exhibits the typical multiple linen thread stitching, with most of the original white paper backing. This badge almost appears to have been never been used.
